Moldes con formas, Shaped pans

Nunca he sido muy fanatica de usar moldes con formas predeterminadas al menos que no fueran los tradicionales en forma rectangular, cuadrado o redondo.

Este fin de semana me hicieron un pedido de un bizcocho para un baby shower. El motivo del bizcocho era una batica de bebe. Estaba media eseptica del bizcocho y varias veces dude en hacerlo porque me parece que esos moldes con formas limitan la imaginacion y la creatividad. Pero no me quedo de otra que ponerme hacer el bizcocho. El resultado final fue el de la foto. Me parece que quedo muy bonito y delicado. No se si seran cosas mias o que pero aveces me parce que cuando uno adquiere un molde en forma de carro o alguna figura de esas medias complicadas uno debe de saber muy bien a lo que uno se atiene. Si uno comete un error no se notara mucho? O habra que volver a trabajar gran parte de ese bizocho para corregir el error? O peor aun como se haran aquellas personas que no son muy dadas al arte o a pintar para dibujarles una cara a un gato o a un oso? En definitiva esos moldes son muy lindos pero antes de uno ponerse a inventar con algun pedido uno debe de practicar su decoracion por lo menos una vez para no llevarse tremenda sorpresa al ultimo momento.

I have never been a big fan of using shaped pans although I find them so cute. I have always stuck to my traditional pans which round, rectangular or squared. This weekend though I recieved an order for a cake in shape of a baby dress. I was not very enthusiastic about the idea and I even hesitated once or twice before making this cake. There is just something about these pans that gives me the creeps. I mean what happens if you make a mistake will be very noticible? And how about if you have to draw a face on a cat or a bear and you are not very good at drawing? Vendors present these pans with a beautifull finished picture of a decorated cake but if you are not very well familiar with your techniques then you won't get the same results.

The picture above is the final product of my imagination. Which I personally believe was cut off by a shaped pans. At the end I liked the results it came out to be very pretty and delicate. But I still insist that one must practice a few times decorating these predetermined cakes before adventuring into promising anyone that we can decorate a car or a bear.
